  1. Operation of all club aircraft shall be in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations as well as Federal, State and Local Law.

  2. Each member has the responsibility to know the operational status of any aircraft (including all systems) in which he or she intends to act as pilot in command (PIC).

  3. The following operations are prohibited in all club aircraft except as noted:
    1. Low level flight (less than 500 feet above the surface) except for normal takeoff and landing operations, and practicing maneuvers required by the FAA.
    2. Off-airport landings.
    3. Landing on any other than hard-surfaced runways in aircraft equipped with wheel fairings.
    4. Flights of more than 50 nautical miles unless a flight plan is filed with flight service or route and destination are recorded in some manner accessible to the Executive Committee.
    5. Flights outside the continental US without prior approval of the Executive Committee.
    6. Flights by anyone who does not have on board the Owner/Operator manual for the specific aircraft being flown.
    7. Flight in any club aircraft unless the pilot’s logbook has been endorsed for that make and model aircraft by a club CFI.
    8. Flight by any pilot who does not meet the experience, checkout, and currency requirements outlined in paragraph 4 of this document.
    9. Aerobatic maneuvers unless the aircraft is designated by the Executive Committee for the specific maneuver to be flown.
    10. Towing unless the aircraft involved are specifically designated for such activity by the Executive Committee.
    11. Formation flight unless the pilot of each aircraft in the formation has a logbook endorsement by a club CFI for formation flight and all such formation flight is planned in a meeting immediately prior to takeoff.
    12. Taxiing such that any portion of the aircraft passes over or under any portion of another vehicle (aircraft or other).
    13. Flight requiring a Commercial Rating except in the case of a club CFI instructing a club member.
    14. Smoking

  4. Student pilot flights:
    1. No student pilot may receive instruction in any club aircraft except by a club CFI.
    2. Each student pilot member shall be assigned (or choose) a club CFI who shall supervise that member’s flight activities and shall be the sole judge of that student member’s flying capabilities until the student member obtains a Private or Recreational Pilots license. Changes in CFI assignment shall be permitted. Any such change shall be evidenced by an entry in the student members logbook which includes the words "New Instructor" and the effective date.
    3. Every student pilot solo flight shall be under the direct supervision of the student’s club CFI, and shall be preceded by a preflight briefing specific to that flight and conducted within the preceding 24 hours.
    4. No student shall initiate a solo flight with less than two hours useable fuel on board.
    5. All student solo flights shall terminate prior to sunset. No student solo night flight is permitted.
    6. Student members are prohibited from solo cross country flight unless that student has passed the FAA Private Pilot written exam.
    7. All student solo cross country trips shall terminate at the point of origin on the same day.

  5. Experience, Checkout and Currency requirements:
    1. Each member has the responsibility to know and observe all insurance policy experience, checkout, and currency requirements for each aircraft in which he or she acts as PIC. Failure to do so will result in revocation of flight privileges. In cases where insurance policy requirements are more stringent, those requirements shall prevail. Such requirements shall be posted on the NTFC website.
    2. Each member has the responsibility to know and observe any experience, checkout, and currency requirements and/or operational restrictions imposed by the aircraft owner for each aircraft in which he or she acts as PIC. Failure to do so will result in revocation of flight privileges. Such requirements shall be posted on the NTFC website.
    3. Minimum required experience –
    4. Basic aircraft: Student pilot certificate, and checkout by club CFI in make and model.
      Taildragger: Student pilot license and 10 hours make and model, and checkout by club CFI in make and model.
      Retractable gear aircraft: Private pilot license, and 150 total hours, and 25 hours since private in aircraft with at least 4 seats, and 50 hours in retractable gear aircraft (or 10 hours of dual), and checkout by club CFI in make and model.
      Multi engine: Twenty-five (25) hours make and model and checkout by club CFI in make and model.
    5. Minimum required checkout –
    6. Basic aircraft: Flight in make and model, and logbook endorsement by club CFI.
      Taildragger: Five (5) takeoffs and landings to full stop under significant crosswind conditions in make and model, and logbook endorsement by club CFI.
      Retractable gear aircraft: Ten (10) hours of dual including simulated gear failure and extension of gear by emergency procedure in make and model (time may be reduced if the member has previously logged at least 50 hours make and model), and logbook endorsement by club CFI.
      Multi engine: Fifteen (15) hours of dual including simulated engine failure on each side in make and model (time may be reduced if the member has previously logged at least 125 hours make and model), and logbook endorsement by club CFI.
    7. Minimum recent experience –
      All aircraft: Each member shall undergo an ANNUAL flight review to be conducted and evidenced by logbook entry by a club CFI.
      Taildragger: each member acting as PIC shall have evidenced by logbook entry at least 3 takeoffs and landings or a checkout by CFI in a taildragger within the previous 90 days.
      Retractable gear aircraft: Each member acting as PIC shall have evidenced by logbook entry at least 3 takeoffs and landings or a checkout by CFI in a retractable gear aircraft within the previous 90 days.


  6. Authority of Club officers:
    1. The Chief Flight Instructor or the Club Safety Officer may at their discretion revoke any or all endorsements and/or flying privileges granted to any member by the club.
    2. Any such action shall be effective immediately upon delivery of written notice of revocation to the member and shall remain in effect until further written notice. The president of the club shall be copied on all such notices.
    3. Any such action shall be subject to review by the Executive Committee and all further action shall be undertaken by the Executive Committee.
